Teaching aims:

 Learn how to talk about the vacation.

Teaching methods:

Task-based learning, communicative approach

Teaching difficult points:

How to give the suggestions. (in different ways)

Teaching procedures:

Good morning, class. Today we have so many teachers here, they are from different places in zhejiang province. Some of them don’t know much about Ningbo. Could you tell them what they can do in Ningbo.

Task One: Brainstorm a list of things to do in Ningbo.

 (Suggest them one vacation spot and tell them what they can do there.)        3-4 minutes

I think these will be helpful for the teachers who are planning vacation in Ningbo.

Task Two   Dialogue

It’s Spring now. It’s the best time to go on vacation. Jim and Julie are talking about where they are going for vacation. Let’s listen to them. And at the same time would you please rearrange the sentences in your text book?

1.       What are they talking about?

2.       How does Jim suggest Julie?

3.       Instead of saying “I think we should”, what else can we make the suggestions? We have learned in Unit 12? Who can tell us?

4.       What can they do at the beach?

5.       Does Julie like going to the beach?

6.       Why?

Well, they can’t decide where to go for vacation, Would you please be Julie and Jim, Complete the dialogue and decide the best place for vacation.                              5-6 minutes

 

More and more people go abroad nowadays, here are two beautiful countries: Singapore and Italy.

 Task Three Pair work

 1.Student A: Suggest a vacation in Singapore, tell about your partner the things you can do there.

  Student B: Suggest a vacation in Italy, tell about your partner the things you can do there.                                

2.Student A: Ask what you can do in Italy, say which suggestions you like and which you don’t.

  Student B: Ask what you can do in Singapore, say which suggestions you like and which you

don’t.

  Decide together which place is best for you and finish “Try this” in your text book.                                              10-12 minutes

Now we know some vacation spots in Singapore and Italy. Do you want to know more foreign countries?

 

Task Four  Today Five travel agents are here. They are going to introduce their vacation sports.

Listen carefully and decide the best place you want to go.  And why?

                                                                  10-15 minutes

 

Task Five  We can see so many nice vacation spots abroad. And what about in our country? There are a lot of ideal vacation spots. And also in Zhejiang province. Here are many teachers from different parts of Zhejiang province, would you please make a survey, find the best place for vacation in their hometown. Then share the survey with your group members then your classmates , and list famous vacation spots in Zhejiang province.                5-8 minutes
