Unit 10 Can you play the guitar?  第一课时(2005.11.1

Teaching aims:

1.       Get familiar with the verbs of activity as dance, swim, sing

2.       Get familiar with the names of musical instrument such as guitar, drums, piano.

3.       Learn to talk about abilities.

4.       Learn the structure of “ Can you play the guitar ? Yes, I can. /No, I can’t.”, “ What can you play? I can play the guitar.” , and “ What club do you want to join? I want to join the English club.”

 

Key points & difficult points:

1.       The usage of “ can”.

2.       work with each other to talk about the abilities.

 

Step I. Warming- up

1.      Talk about the students’ hobbies.

2.      Chant.

 I can paint. I want to join the art club. I can speak English. I want to join English, etc.

3.   Finish the listening task. ( Section A, 1C)

 

Step II. Sentence patterns

1.       Introduce the patterns.

--Can you play the guitar?

-- Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.

2. Pair work : ask and answer according to the form below.

3.      Pair work :    What can you play?

Step III. Talk about the clubs.

1.      Group competition to name the clubs in our school.

3.  Finish 2a& 2b in the textbook.

4.  Group work: fill in the form.

Step IV. Job Interview

1, Read the ad in the textbook.

2. Group work: two students act as interviewer, and the other two act as interviewee. The students can use the sentences as follows.

1). I like chess.

2). I want to join the art club.

3). What can you do? I can swim.

4). What club do you want to join? I want to join the art club.

5). Can you help kids with sports? Yes, I can.

6). Can you play chess (well)? Yes, I can.

 

课后评议:

1句型操练比较成功,该课内容与学生的日常生活比较接近,学生有兴趣谈,有内容可以谈, 取得了较好的效果。

2.表格的形式使学生的对话更具有针对性,经过实践,这是操练句型一个很好的方法。

3.最后一部分的内容,由于有一定的难度,有部分学生完成得不是很好,下堂课可以用这一部分作为复习的内容,培养学生把较为死板的句型灵活应用于实际生活中。
