Period 1  (Getting Started 1 + Dialogue 1 + DIY Lab 1 + Message Box 6)

 

Teaching Aims:

1.       Two ways of expressing the time.

2.       Daily activities

 

Key Points & Difficult Points:

How to tell the time

Common phrases of daily activities.

 

Step 1

1.  Teach students the ways to ask and tell time.  (Make a clock first if possible.)

A: What time is it? / What’s the time?

B1: It’s one o’clock.

B2: It’s five past two. / It’s 3 minutes past two. / It’s a quarter past three. / It’s ten to two.

B3: It’s two o five. / It’s three fifteen.

2.  A competition between two teams according to the two ways of expressing time.

 eg. One team say ten forty, the other team say twenty to eleven.

 

Step 2.

1.       Pattern

A: look at the clock. It’s half past six.

B: It’s time for breakfast/class/sports/bed. Let’s have breakfast/begin our class/have sports/go to bed.

2.       Finish DIY LAB 1 (P47)

 

Step 3  Dialogue 1

1.       Listen to Dialogue 1 and answer questions

a.       What time does John usually get up in the morning?

b.       Does John always go to school early?

c.        What time does school begin?

d.       Does John have lunch at a quarter to twelve?

e.        When does John have sports?

f.        What time does John usually go home?

2.       Retell John’s daily routine.

3.       Interview your friend by asking what time or when.

4.       Make a report about your friend’s daily routine.

点评:

 

1.两种时间表达法教授时由浅入深,效果佳;

2.操练时单纯对话比较枯燥,后改为小组竞赛,一组用直接表达法,另外一组在最短时间内用另外一组表达法,气氛比较活跃,但是参与面不够广;

3Daily routine采用表格加对话形式有点老套,但是比较规范,还是有一定的效果。
