Chat Room : Dialogue One

Teaching aims: 1. Ask about problems

2. Give suggestions.

3. Learn possessive pronouns: mine, his … etc.

Difficult and key points: 1. How to ask about problems

                          2. How to give suggestions

                          3. compare the phrases “borrow sth from sb”,

“lend sb sth” “lend sth to sb”

Procedure:

Step One: Review possessive pronouns

 A. Let the students look around the classroom and try to find something that belong to me, you, him, her, us and them.

B. Collect 4 things and ask the students to find the owners.

 

Step Two: Quick response

A.(I pretend to be sad. Let the students do quick response.)

T: Look at me. How am I today?

S: You don’t look happy.

T: Yes, that’s right. I’m sad today.

S: What’s the matter?/ What’s wrong?/What’s the problem?

B. Ask for suggestions.

T: My bicycle doesn’t work properly, so I can’t ride home this afternoon. What can I do? Do you have any good ideas?

( Encourage students to use the patterns “Why don’t you…?” “Can’t you …?”

 “You’d better …”)

 

Step Three: Come to the lesson

A. T: Thank you for your nice suggestions. I feel much easier now. Mike is worried, too. What’s the matter with him? Please listen to the tape and fill in the chart.)

B. Check the answers.

C. Imitate the lesson and try to act it in roles.

Step Four: Further practice about giving suggestions and solving problems.

Situation1: I need to do my homework, but my pen is broken.

Situation2: you don’t feel well today.

Situation3: You want to travel around the city. But you don’t know the way well.

  评语: 整堂课设计紧扣重点,从已学内容的复习入手,慢慢过度到新知识,自然而清晰,且层层递进,到最后一步的情景对话,虽不华丽却步步扎实。
